Join your tour at Cullen Bay Ferry Terminal and take the two hour cruise to Bathurst Island.
On arrival you will be met by a local guide who will take you on a journey through the progressive, modern day Aboriginal community of Nguiu (Wurrumiyanga).
Spend time with some Tiwi ladies at morning tea and enjoy billy tea and damper while they work on their weaving and painting. Learn about totem dances and a smoking ceremony to bless visitors.
Visit the museum to view interesting displays of traditional art and depictions of the Tiwi 'dreamtime' stories and Early Mission Precinct with its unique Tiwi style Catholic Church. Hear about the colourful history of the early mission days and learn how the Tiwi people have blended their culture with Christianity.
You will be taken through the Arts and Crafts Centres to see where the artists work, with the opportunity to purchase Tiwi arts and crafts at Island prices.
Learn some of the complex rituals associated with the Pukamani (burial ceremony) before being transferred back to the ferry landing to board your vessel from Bathurst Island at 3.00pm. (Lunch may be purchased on board the vessel).
Tour concludes at approximately 5.00pm at Cullen Bay Ferry Terminal.
