Day 1
Guests are picked up from their central Hobart accommodation between 8.00am and 8.15am. The group is then driven to Triabunna, about 90 minutes away, to board one of the local ferry boats which crosses Mercury Passage en route to Darlington on the island. Landing at the historic Darlington precinct, just a short walk to the historic Bernacchi House, guests can relax around the house in front of the wood fires or take a walk to the stunning Painted Cliffs or Fossil Cliffs to watch the sunset over the water. Delicious fresh Tasmanian produce and fine wines will be served by the guides. Approx. walking distance 2 km or 12km if taking one of the afternoon walks.

Day 2
After a leisurely and relaxed breakfast, there's plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings before guests choose their days walking. For the adventurous there is the choice of the islands two towering mountains or for a more relaxed stroll, enjoy the reservoir circuit or oast house circuit. Arriving back at Bernacchi House in the afternoon, guests will be entertained by native birds and mammals while enjoying delicious wines on the deck before being served a satisfying and delicious dinner. Approx. walking distance 6km to 18km if a mountain peak is chosen.

Day 3
After breakfast, guests can explore Darlington, the convict settlement and industrial ruins of his World Heritage site. A farewell lunch will be served overlooking Darlington before guests board the boat for Triabunna and the return trip to Hobart or the airport at approx. 6pm.~~~~

- T-shirts x 2 (only 1 if you take the longsleeve shirt for sun protection).
- Shorts x 1.

- Sunglasses.
- Beanie (woollen hat) for evenings.
- Sun hat.
- Water bottle, 1.5 litre recommended.
- Plastic mug for warm drinks en-route.
- Sunscreen and insect repellent - some also provided on walk.
- Hand towel or body chamois.
- Toiletries - often the heaviest items so transfer to small plastic containers. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided at Bernacchi House.
- Shoes/sandals for evening.
- Swim wear and sarong.
- Binoculars/camera.

Day 1: A Maria Island Walk vehicle will pick you up from your hotel for your transfer to The Maria Island Walk office located at 4 Patrick Street, North Hobart, the departure point of your tour. At 8.00am meet the rest of your group, collect your backpacks and undertake a briefing before departing on your four day Maria Island Walk tour. At 8.45am drive just over one hour to the fishing village of Orford River where you will board the Maria Island boat for a 40 minute private catamaran crossing through the waters of Mercury Passage to the remote southern end of Maria Island. Enjoy lunch overlooking the crystal azure waters of Shoal Bay before taking a walk to Casuarina Beach camp. There is time for an afternoon stroll through the tall eucalypt forest to visit a penguin colony at Haunted Bay. This evening after a candlelit dinner, stroll along the beach with a glass of wine delighting in the day you have had. Walking distance today is 8 kilometres. Overnight at Casuarina Beach camp (no shower facilities available however a private washing cabin with bowl of warm water is provided). (L, D)

Day 2: Start your journey along five beautiful beaches. Watch for dolphins in the surf and wedgetail and sea eagles soaring overhead, explore world heritage convict era cells and visit a rare Tasmanian Aborigine ochre site at Bloodstone Point as you walk to White Gums camp. Enjoy lunch at a secluded place along the way. Arrive at White Gums camp and enjoy a refreshing swim before retiring for another evening of gourmet dining. Walking distance today is 13 kilometres on flat, hard sand beaches and well worn trails. Overnight at White Gums camp (no shower facilities available however a private washing cabin with bowl of warm water is provided). (B, L, D)

Day 3: Several options are available today. Choose to travel through magnificent "cloud forest" to the breathtaking 709 metre summit of Mt Maria. Alternatively, choose a gentler option and head inland to the heart of the island through the ancient forests full of bird life to visit Hopgrounds Beach and the Painted Cliffs. You may wish to climb the summit of Bishop and Clerk. Enjoy lunch along the way. Tonight stay in historic colonial Bernacchi House in Darlington. Walking distance today is 9-17 kilometres depending on optional walks. Overnight accommodation at Bernacchi House. (B, L, D)

Day 4: A chance to relax and explore the convict settlement and industiral ruins of Darlington, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to the dramatic sea cliffs of Fossil Bay and then head down to the remarkable fossils at Fossil Cliffs. Arriving back at Darlington, enjoy lunch before boarding the boat back to the mainland and Hobart taking with you incredible memories and stories of an amazing four days spent in a very special place. Walking distance today is 4 kilometres. Tour concludes in Hobart at approximately 5.00pm, at which time hotel drop offs will commence. (B, L)
