Brisbane is the perfect short break destination, with endless shopping, dining and nightlife options, cultural experiences and outdoor activities. Acres of green parkland hugging the riverbank and throughout the city make Brisbane a haven for urban recreation and adventure.
A good way to get your bearings when you first arrive is to explore the city by foot, aboard a river cruise on a Citycat, or on the free downtown city bus loop. Take in the sights and sounds of Brisbane and discover why the river is so central to Brisbane life.
Alfresco dining is a must do experience in Brisbane and you’ll find a great selection of cafés, bars and restaurants with a prime position right on the river. Explore the kilometres of riverside walkways or enjoy any number of adventures including abseiling the cliffs at Kangaroo Point, climbing the Story Bridge or all kinds of water sports.
There’s no better place in Queensland to indulge in retail therapy than Brisbane. Along with Queen Street Mall in the heart of the city, you’ll find shopping centres and factory outlets, upcoming designers and weekend outdoor markets. Experience Brisbane’s exciting dining scene or head to a bar in downtown Brisbane or Fortitude Valley. For something cultural there’s no shortage of galleries, museums and live theatre venues, or take the opportunity to visit Brisbane’s cultural precinct at South Brisbane.
Explore the city and you’ll soon discover, Brisbane has it all.
How to get there
International flights arrive at Brisbane Airport (BNE) from many global hubs. From the airport, it's an easy 20 minute taxi or train ride to the city centre. The inner city has a free bus service that circles the city every 10 minutes, and a free CityHopper ferry service that travels along the river from North Quay to New Farm.
