The panoramic landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges are extraordinary for their immensity and the spectacular array of sunburnt oranges, maroons and purples on display. The spectacular outback scenery and photo opportunities as we travel along the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges, stopping at historic sites. Enjoy beautiful walks at Simpsons Gap, Standley Chasm (morning tea stop), the Ochre Pits, and Ormiston Gorge. Enjoy a sit down lunch at Glen Helen Lodge, we stop for afternoon time at Ellery Creek Big Hole. This waterhole is one of Central Australia's most pristine, so don't forget your swimmers in the warmer months! These mighty ranges light up in brilliant oranges, reds at sunset on the return trip to Alice Springs.

Palm Valley 4WD Day Tour

An Emu Run Tours Coach will pick you up from your hotel to commence a Palm Valley 4WD Day Tour. Travel along the West MacDonnell Ranges to the Historic Precinct of Hermannsburg. Explore the historic buildings and Art Gallery featuring works of the famous Aboriginal Artist Albert Namatjira. Depart Hermannsburg and journey along the ancient Finke River bed towards Palm Valley in a custom built 4WD vehicle. Enjoy a Bushman's lunch as you approach Cycad Gorge and Palm Valley. A short drive to Cycad Gorge before then enjoying a real 4WD drive into Palm Valley where you will be able to wander amongst the relict Palms and Cycads. Palm Valley is home to a diverse range of plant species, many that are rare and unique to the area including the red cabbage palm (Livistona mariae), which gives the area its name. Here you will have the opportunity to complete to the River Walk, then before returning take in the rim platform viewing of the Valley and experience this Oasis in the desert. On the return journey enjoy a short walk up to Kalaranga Lookout, an amazing view of the area. Late afternoon, return to Alice Springs watching the fading light reflecting off the MacDonnell Ranges. (Note: in summer time - Hermannsburg is visited in the afternoon.)

We travel to Wallace Rockhole, taking in the West MacDonnell Ranges scenic beauty along the way. On arrival you are taken on a guided Rockhole tour, experiencing unique carved rock art and learning about bush medicine and bush tucker (food). After the Rockhole walk we sample some kangaroo and freshly baked damper for morning tea. We then sit down and participate in an amazing Aboriginal dot painting workshop, which gives people a better understanding of the Aboriginal art and culture that dates back thousands of years. On arrival, enjoy a fresh, salad lunch. We drive to Hermannsburg Heritage Precinct, the first Aboriginal mission in the territory. See the historic Lutheran mission buildings and enjoy the Hermannsburg Watercolour Gallery.

Uluru 1 Day Experience - Return Alice Springs

A Emu Run Tours Coach will pick you up from your hotel to commence a Uluru 1 Day Experience Tour. We head to our first stop at Erldunda (home of the Emu) for a buffet breakfast. We arrive at Yulara at approximately 11:45am and after a quick stop we provide you with a freshly made packed lunch to eat on the drive to the World Heritage listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. We travel to Kata Tjuta (Olgas) for the first walk of the day into Walpa Gorge. Embrace the domes of Kata-Tjuta on your first walk of the day. We then visit the Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you will have time to learn about the local Pitjantjatjara people and buy some souvenirs. We then head to the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock), which is next to the entrance to the Uluru climb. From here one of the two guides will take you on a guided Mala Walk. The Mala Walk follows the north-west side of Uluru, where there are many fine examples of Anangu rock art, and you can experience the wonder of the sheer vertical walls. The guide will tell dreamtime stories of the Anangu People. We drive from the front of Uluru around to the Kuniya car park, which is at the back of Uluru. From here we start our second Uluru guided walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. The guide will take you along a short track to the Mutitjulu Waterhole home of an ancestral water snake called Wanampi. The guide will share stories of local traditions and explain how the Anangu people traditionally used the waterhole for hunting. The caves containing rock art were used in the past by Anangu still alive today. The highlight of the day is the breathtaking Uluru sunset. You will view the sunset with a glass of bubbly and a delicious Aussie BBQ. A spectacular day never to be forgotten. After sunset we set off to Alice Springs. Tour concludes at approximately 12:00am, at which time hotel drop offs will commence.

Enjoy a glorious sunrise with a walk around the base of Uluru. Deepen your understanding of the land and the Mala people during a cultural interpretive walk with your tour guide.There's an opportunity to purchase Aboriginal arts and crafts at the Cultural Centre before travelling to the campsite in Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon). Day 3: Kings Canyon to Alice Springs
After breakfast, drive to Kings Canyon for a guided 6km Canyon Rim Walk in one of the most spectacular areas of the outback. Visit the natural Amphitheatre and discover the Lost City, North and South Walls, and the exotic Garden of Eden along the way. The photo opportunities are endless in Kings Canyon so be sure to bring your camera.
